Agency Says Campaign Inspired Artists
The agency, bobdonpaul.com, said Obama’s campaign inspired paintings, posters and songs, so it wanted to extend that creativity to the inauguration.
“In many ways, the artistic movement inspired by Barack Obama and his message of change is likely to have contributed to his victory,” said photographer Bob Manley. “We would like to celebrate that effort and the artists that made it happen.”The agency created a Web site at www.inaugurationday2009.org to allow artists to submit their ideas for posters to celebrate the inauguration on Jan. 20, 2009.The site will collect and showcase the ideas and other “Obama Art,” but Manley said he doesn’t know exactly where the poster contest will lead.”It’s our hope that maybe one of the posters that are derived from our contributors will someday hang in the Capitol, or maybe the White House,” Manley said.
